The Uses Of Hypnosis
What is Hypnosis?
Hypnosis is an altered state of consciousness, which is
characterized by extreme relaxation and heightened level of subconscious
suggestibility. It
is usually induced by another person in which the subject retains awareness
of the presence of the Hypnotherapist. Simply put, when
you are in Hypnosis, you are in a different state than your normal
waking state.

Does Hypnosis really work?
Yes, it works for the majority of people although you must be open
minded, looking for positive change and want it to work. Hypnosis
works with your subconscious mind to create success – incredibly
dramatic success – in your life! Hypnosis is a very powerful
tool for positive change. The power of Hypnosis is documented
by doctors, dentists and many other leading health professionals.

How does Hypnosis work?
When you relax, your body releases any tension and your body and
mind automatically shifts its state of consciousness. For the
purpose of the Hypnosis contained on the professional CD’s
created by Simon Edwards, your mind goes into Hypnosis because this
is the way you are being directed. And, in listening to the
CD’s for the purpose of making successful change in your life,
you are following along, cooperatively, with the suggestions that
Simon Edwards is giving.

How do I know if I can
be a Hypnotized?
Since we all go into different forms of Hypnosis throughout
our daily lives (as an example, every time you day dream, lose track
of time and so on), then everybody is Hypnotizable to some degree. Numerous
Hypnosis experiments have repeatedly shown that, normal people, with
moderate to high intelligence, with the ability to concentrate, who
are motivated to do so and cooperate can be Hypnotised. In
fact people seem to have the ability to improve and become better
subjects with practise.
The key factors are that you want to experience change and you feel
comfortable with Simon in order to have success. The level of concentration
that you ultimately achieve will depend directly on how well you
follow Simon’s suggestions.

How will I know if I am in Hypnosis?
Because of the many mis-conceptions that surround the subject
of Hypnosis (as a result of how it has been portrayed in books, movies,
and on TV); usually, a person being Hypnotized for the first time
won't even think that they've been in the state at all, simply because
they incorrectly think that they are supposed to be unconscious or
a zombie. The truth is - that this is not the case at all; if for
no other reason, than because Hypnosis is really a state of complete
relaxation. It's truly a subjective experience whereby some people
sense a feeling of "heaviness", while others can experience a light
or floating sensation. Although you are perfectly aware of surroundings
and sounds, your attention becomes concentrated on the voice of the
Hypnotist and other sounds just seem to fade away. Your ability to
succeed in being Hypnotized will be directly related to how well
you follow Simon’s suggestions.

Is Hypnosis dangerous?
Many, many doctors and psychologists state that there are
no dangers involved with Hypnosis, only being ignorant of it. Since
relaxation is the primary focus of Hypnosis, it actually helps to
relieve tension and anxieties, which further serves to help you achieve
a greater state of relaxation in a far shorter period of time than
while in the natural sleep state.
Andre M. Weitzenhoffer, Ph.D, a highly regarded authority in the
field of mind science writes:
“As far as it is known today, hypnosis per se is no more
dangerous than natural sleep. There is no evidence that hypnosis
in itself weakens the will, damages the nervous system or in any
way adversely affects the physical or mental well being of individuals.”
Leslie N. LeCron, Psychologist, states:
“As to self-induction, many thousands have learned it
and I have yet to hear a report of any bad results of its use”
However, just like drugs or any other treatment, it can be misused.
Milton Erickson M.D. a psychiatrist and leading authority on Hypnosis
stated
That Hypnosis itself has never been harmful in any way to a
subject…..it is the misuse, not Hypnosis itself, which could
be harmful.
Any normally intelligent person can be Hypnotised. Caution
needs to be taken individuals who are incapacitatingly anxious or
depressed or are deeply emotionally troubled. Anyone who is
greatly disturbed, great depressed, on the verge of a “nervous
breakdown” or in danger of becoming insane would not normally
be hypnotised.

Can I be made to do something in Hypnosis that i don't want
to do?
Very definitely not! You are fully aware and alert during
Hypnosis, you know exactly what is occurring. You will not
do anything under Hypnosis contrary to your moral principles. You
are fully in control during Hypnosis.
While listening to Simon Edwards, you are aware of everything the
entire time that you are experiencing Hypnosis and can even reject
any suggestions that you don't want to follow. Just as you cannot
be hypnotized against your will, you CANNOT be made to do anything
that you don't want to do while experiencing the state of Hypnosis.

Should I be afraid of any negative effects of Hypnosis on
my mind?
Absolutely not!! In fact, Dr. David Cheek, who has extensive
experience and familiarity in the field of Hypnosis has eloquently
written that "we can do more harm with the ignorance of Hypnotism
then we could ever do by intelligently using Hypnosis and suggestion
in a positive way". It is important to remember that Hypnosis is
a very natural, daily occurrence that we ALL experience. We go in
and out of "waking hypnosis" at least one hundred times per day,
and some of us even more often than that!! Some common examples are
when we day-dream, concentrate deeply on something, become totally
absorbed in things of compelling interest in our lives, to even watching
a movie, TV and so on.

Is it possible that I will be unable to awaken from Hypnosis?
Since during the Hypnotic state, you are alert and aware, awakening
from hypnosis is as easy as opening your eyes! Either the
Hypnotist or the subject can terminate the Hypnosis session at will.

Can one Hypnosis session be enough?
Hypnosis effects a “cure” in one session. In some
cases, Hypnosis can enable a subject to break a habit in two or three
sessions. However, since habit has become conditioned over
time, it can take repetitions of Hypnosis to fully remove the full
strength of the conditioning.

The Uses
Of Hypnosis
Hypnosis is not an independent science or art. It
is a technique useful in the context of medical, surgical, psychological
and dental treatment.
It is used to control acute and chronic pain as
in childbirth, skin transplants, headaches, back
pain, dental procedures and the treatment
of burns. Other medical applications include treatment
of some skin disorders, asthma, allergies, bedwetting, insomnia and sexual
dysfunctions such as premature ejaculation,
impotence, frigidity and inhibited
desire. It is also used to deal with the anxiety connected
with medical, surgical and dental procedures and to speed
healing.
In psychological therapy, Hypnosis is used
to facilitate treatment of depression, anger, guilt, worry, anxiety and
other neurotic symptoms. It is particularly useful in the treatment
of phobias and functional memory disorders. The
ability of Hypnosis to facilitate deep relaxation has
made it beneficial in treatment of stress disorders. Hypnosis
has also been successful in the treatment of disorders of control
such as weight management, stopping nicotine
use, chemical dependency, nail-biting, stuttering, gagging and pulling
out hair.
Hypnosis has been used to create more skill
and comfort in everyday circumstances. Examples include improving
memory and concentration, study
habits, sales-ability, sports performance, public
speaking, passing examinations, and communication
skills such as assertive responding. Benefit from Hypnosis
